Why a Wheel Works Better in a Room Full of People
A wheel shows the draw happening, which makes it more fun and more trusted when everyone is watching.
A plain generator shows the result straight away. A wheel takes a few seconds to slow down, so everyone watching the screen gets to see it pass their letter. That short wait is why wheels are so popular for classroom turns, stream giveaways and team games. It also makes it clear the draw was not rigged.
The result is still decided by a random number, not by physics. The spin speed and the number of full turns are picked when you press Spin, and every slice on the wheel is the same size, so every letter on the wheel has the same chance.
- Classroom turns: Put the first letter of each student's name on the wheel and remove each winner.
- Alphabet warm-ups: Spin and name an animal, food or country starting with the letter.
- Streams and parties: Share your screen and spin once per round so everyone can see the result.

How Removing Letters Changes the Wheel
Each slice gets an equal share of 360 degrees. With all 26 letters, a slice is just under 14 degrees. Take letters off and the rest grow to fill the gap, so each remaining letter's chance goes up by the same amount.
| Wheel setup | Letters | Slice angle | Chance per spin |
|---|---|---|---|
| Full alphabet | 26 | 13.8° | 3.85% |
| Without Q, X, Z | 23 | 15.7° | 4.35% |
| Consonants only | 21 | 17.1° | 4.76% |
| First half, A to M | 13 | 27.7° | 7.69% |
| Vowels only | 5 | 72.0° | 20.0% |

Elimination Mode: Every Letter Wins Once
With elimination on, the winning letter is removed after it lands. Keep spinning and the wheel gets smaller until one letter is left. With 26 letters that takes 25 spins to reach a final letter, and every letter gets exactly one turn along the way. The spin log keeps the order, so you can use it as a running order for turns or tasks.

Random Letter Wheel Questions
Is the letter wheel fair?
Yes. Every slice is the same size and the stopping point is picked at random, so each letter on the wheel has the same chance.
How do I take a letter off the wheel?
Tap its chip under the wheel. The chip greys out and the wheel redraws without that letter. Tap it again to put it back.
What does elimination mode do?
It removes each winning letter after the spin, so no letter can win twice. Press Restore all to put every letter back.
Can I use the wheel for vowels only?
Yes. Press "Vowels only" to leave just A, E, I, O and U on the wheel, so each one takes up a fifth of the circle.
Does the wheel work on phones?
Yes. The wheel resizes to fit the screen, and all the buttons work by touch.
What is the smallest number of letters the wheel can have?
Two. You need at least two letters for the spin to mean anything, so the last two letters cannot both be removed.
